"Firebird" by Bob Thompson, captures a C-130 from the 17th TAS (Tactical Airlift Squadron) which operated out of Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. Some of the aircraft were equipped with skis for winter flying in Alaska and other destinations such as the Greenland Ice Cap. The C-130 has a long history in Alaska and has proven itself worthy time and again in the harsh and demanding wilds of the north country.
